On Friday my family and I went down to the dairy to tag, needle and drench the cows before they are sold next week. My brother Ben and I were lucky enough to stay home from school to help with the farm work.

My dad and I rode the motorbike down to the cattle yards with my brother riding his behind us. We had to ride down a really steep hill to get there where their were many cattle tracks along the way that we had to speed over. It is a little scary, but still very exciting.

When we arrived I had to get out the clip board, tags, needle and the drenching gun ready for the job. I used the clip board to record the cow number and the tag number so that we could maintain an accurate record of the cows. Once they were tagged, my Dad and his uncle gave them a needle for the worms and then squirted the drenching gun on their back to help keep away the buffalo flies. We had to do 85 cows in only 3 hours.
